About Sara
Sara's Story
As a lifelong resident of Rockland County, NY, Sara moved to Ramsey in 2014 for its charming beauty, highly rated schools, and distinct downtown. She was very excited to see how active so many residents are in this community. She quickly took notice that it is not uncommon for residents to come together to offer a service or to help those in need. By 2015, Sara was volunteering with the Ramsey Board of Health on the “Lighten-Up Ramsey” initiative to educate the community on healthy eating and exercise habits. She was asked to join the Ramsey Board of Health shortly after in 2016.
She is best known for her efforts on the Ramsey Municipal Alliance (RMA) where she served as both Grant Coordinator and Chairperson in a dual role starting in 2018. As Grant Coordinator, Sara managed funds from government grants and became familiar with the Borough’s financial payment processing procedures. Sara is incredibly passionate about the RMA and its hard working committee of volunteers. She worked closely with Ramsey Schools and Ramsey Police to coordinate age-appropriate programs and presentations educating the community on Substance Abuse Prevention and Mental Wellness. Sara’s distinct passion for serving her community revitalized the RMA into a stronger community presence. A culmination of her efforts was realized when Sara was presented the Volunteer of the Year award in October 2018. Today, Sara remains the council liaison and an active volunteer to the RMA.
In 2019, Sara was appointed to the Ramsey Zoning Board of Adjustments where she became more knowledgeable in zoning and planning and completed the Land Use, Law, and Training Program.
All three positions were held until her election to Ramsey Council in 2022.
Sara continues to be passionate about giving back to her community. She volunteers for R.I.F.E. (Ramsey is for Everyone), and L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs), and was L.E.A.D. Volunteer of the Year in 2023. Just months into her term she started a new resident outreach initiative and organized the first annual New Resident Mixer to better connect our community to each other as well as to our wonderful volunteer organizations. Along with her other obligations as chair of the Governmental and Public Relations Committee, she started Coffee with the Council events and chairs the bi-annual release of The Ramsey Journal.
Sara holds a BA in Psychology from Marymount College and a MSEd in Educational Psychology from Fordham University. She started her career in 2004 as a corporate trainer in Financial Technology where she traveled the world implementing industry leading software. Her success eventually led her to become a Project Manager. Moving on in 2012, she was hired as the global Application Owner for a company’s Order to Cash Software supporting users and advising company executives on best business practices. In 2020, Sara took the opportunity to earn her Project Management Professional (PMP) certification which she utilized in the Project Management Office for one of the nation’s largest independent energy producers. She has been an active volunteer for the NJ chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMINJ) since 2021, in their Infrastructure department. Sara currently works as a Sr IT Manager/Delivery Lead at Johnson Controls and manages a global IT team supporting critical financial applications, projects, and other major IT initiatives.
Sara resides with her husband, George and their two young children; Willow (7 years old) and Dylan (12 years old). She most enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Her hobbies include embarking on outdoor adventures such as hiking, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Serving Ramsey is Sara’s passion, and she hopes to remain in the Council position to continue to give back to the community in an even greater capacity than she does today. Let’s ensure that Ramsey remains the wonderful place we know, and more.
